LEARN
Background
LEARN is an initiative that started in 2000 and was consolidated after the Africa-Canada Youth symposium in Antigonish, Nova Scotia at the Coady institute, by some of the participants and as such it has such an attachment to Coady International Institute,St.Francis Xavier University,Nova Scotia,Canada.It is coordinated by young people from Africa and Canada.
Vision
To provide a Leadership Network where individuals, groups, organizations and social movements have the skills,critical knowledge and resources to enable them to develop positive values and strong institutions necessary for living in and sustaining developing communities.
Mission
To contribute to the social capital of Young people in their respective communites for the provision of a visionary leadership through education, training and publication
Purpose
To develop critical thinking, visionary leadership and strong youth institutions to face the many challenges of the 21st century.The programme will seek to bridge the often-artificial divide between academia and research on one hand and practitioners on the other.It will seek to identify creative, visionery social innovators and young leaders and give them support for their own growth as well as for the growth of their communities.
Goal
To contribute to the development and retention of a critcal mass of social innovators, visionary leaders and viable youth structures in the civil society
